A Letter from the Principal About
Conferences and Grades
Dear Thunderbird Families,
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our conferences this week. Our arena-style conferences on Wednesday, October 9th from 4:30-7:00 PM, and on Thursday, October 10th from 8:00-11:00 AM, are open to all families. Since conferences will end on time, please arrive early enough to have plenty of time to both wait in line and talk with your student's teachers. Teachers will keep conversations relatively brief so they can talk with all their families. Families have already been notified if they were invited to a teacher-scheduled conference during the afternoon of Thursday, October 10th.
With parents and guardians currently using both Skooler and Skyward to check student grades, we hope you will attend our conferences so you can have a face-to-face conversation with your student's teachers about how your students are doing in their classes. With the news that our district is scaling back its use of Skooler, all our teachers will have their grades posted in Skyward by the middle of next week. Once we all have our grades in Skyward, you will again be able to track your student's grades in one location. We recognize this will make it easier for you to monitor your student's progress in their classes.
While at conferences, please check out the book fair on our stage. Proceeds from our book fair directly support our library, and this is a great way to invest in our school.
Please remember that this Thursday, October 10th, and Friday, October 11th, are both non-student days at Tolt as teachers will be in conferences on Thursday and there is no school across the district this Friday.
We value having strong relationships with families and look forward to continuing to work together to support your student's success.
Partnering with you,
Amie Karkainen, Principal
